Michael Phelps finally has his revenge. For four years, Phelps had to be steaming after losing to Chad le Clos in the 200-meter butterfly at the London Olympics. Well, Phelps can put that in the past, as he took back the gold in his signature event.
Phelps led the whole way, finishing in 1:53.36, while Le Clos finished in fourth at 1:54.06. In the last 50, the 31-year-old superstar faded a bit, as the field began to track him down, but in the end he held them off to secure his 20th Olympic gold medal, and the 24th Olympic medal of his incredible career.
As if we needed any more proof that Phelps was amazing, he’ll also swim in the 4×200-meter relay about an hour after the 200-meter butterfly final finished. Remarkably, the dude still has it.
