John Saunders Dies at 61

John Saunders died at the age of 61, ESPN has announced. On SportsCenter, Hannah Storm delivered the news to ESPN viewers.

Saunders joined ESPN in 1986, and had countless different broadcast responsibilities. Most recently, he hosted The Sports Reporters and anchored ABC’s college football studio show. Previously, he has done play-by-play for college basketball and the WNBA, and hosted coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, World Series, and Final Four.

ESPN notes, sadly, that “Saunders is survived by his wife, Wanda, and two daughters, Aleah and Jenna.”
