Missy Franklin Leaves Rio Without Reaching Individual Final

Missy Franklin was one of the USA’s biggest stars at London 2012, winning four gold medals. Rio 2016 did not go as planned for the 21-year-old.

Franklin missed the final in the individual 200m freestyle and missed the final in the 200m backstroke, swimming nearly six seconds off her world record.

Franklin will not go home empty-handed. She won her fifth gold medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay.
