Whitney Miller was named Miss United States in 2012. From there, she made the obvious decision to pursue a career in combat sports. On Thursday night she made her amateur boxing debut against River Fuller. Miller won a decision. [Update: Miller did not officially win a decision as this was an unsanctioned bout. Her amateur record remains 0-0.]

You can watch the fight here if you want. (The fight starts around 2-hours, 13-minutes in, though the sound isn’t synced with the video so…)

In 2014, Miller told MMA Junkie that she was doing Brazilian jiu-jitsu and had plans to give MMA a try. If it’s been over 2-years and she’s just starting amateur boxing, that might actually be a good sign that she’s taking a career in combat sports seriously and is not rushing into anything. So who knows. Maybe this was the start of something.
