Joseph Schooling won gold in the men’s 100m butterfly on Friday night, beating out Michael Phelps, Chad le Clos and László Cseh who somehow had a 3-way tie for the silver. While it was a disappointing finish for Phelps, it was the culmination of a career for Schooling, a 21-year old Singaporean swimmer. The win was made almost eerie by this picture take 8 years ago of Phelps, Schooling and a fu manchu. Basically, if you took a picture with Michael Phelps in the mid-to-late-aughts, you won a gold medal in Rio.
