Ryan Lochte Apologizes for Robbery Claim, Says He Was Traumatized

Ryan Lochte has issued an apology “for not being more careful and candid” about his role in last weekend’s incident. It is not the strongest apology you’ll ever read. While he does seem to acknowledge that he made mistakes, the post also tries to engender sympathy.

He claims he waited this long to address the situation because he was waiting for his teammates’ safe return to the United States.

The apology isn’t likely to convert any critics but the tone isn’t entirely surprising considering the clumsy way Lochte has handled this situation as it unraveled.
