MMQB honcho Peter King and senior writer Jenny Vrentas needed to get to Qualcomm Stadium on time for the start of Friday night’s Cardinals-Chargers game. Desperate times called for desperate measures.
King’s tweet showing the duo using the bike lane to shave time off their drive will surely enrage cyclists, who are a very serious group sensitive to encroachment on their territory. Personally, I love the move.
Journalists are the most important people and underappreciated people in the world. It’s high time they stand up for themselves. If anything, King and Vrentas’ commitment to covering the opening minutes of a preseason game should be lauded.
Look, if postmen can get a song dedicated to their ability to work despite assorted precipitation, why can’t football writers get one telling of their brave exploits? Travel delays, traffic, bad stadium food are no joke. Throw in tight deadlines and mean reader comments and there’s plenty of material for a diddy of praise.
