Britney Spears Would "Probably" Do Super Bowl LI Halftime Show, Let's Make this Damn Thing Happen

Last week, Adele turned down an offer that may or may not have been formally made from the NFL to perform at the halftime show at Super Bowl LI. With this void out there, someone who would have been a better choice in the first place has thrown her hat into the ring: Britney Spears. (As an aside, another really good choice would be the Foo Fighters.)

Now, this is nothing against Adele, but all of her popular songs are sad, even the upbeat ones like Rolling in the Deep. Britney Spears, who has a new album coming out and is looking great these days, would galvanize the audience, I think.

A BBC interviewer (above) mentioned that Britney Spears is the oddsmakers’ favorite to perform at the Super Bowl (I can’t immediately find evidence of that but let’s hope it’s true!) and asked Britney if she’d do it, to which she answered, “Yes, I probably would.”

Now, there are some hurdles to clear. For one, we have no idea if Britney is indeed under consideration from the NFL, nor if she’d be willing to pay the fee the league reportedly requests of artists in the spot. Though she made a cameo in the 2001 halftime show with Aerosmith, ‘N Sync, Mary J. Blige, and Nelly, she’s never headlined it.
