Officials Agree Oklahoma State Got Screwed, Hail Mary Never Should Have Happened
By Kyle Koster

Central Michigan stunned Oklahoma State with an untimed Hail Mary. The Chippewas shouldn’t have been given the opportunity to run such a miraculous play, according to, well, just about everyone.
Here’s Fox’s Mike Pereira explaining why the officials made the wrong decision after Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph committed an intentional grounding penalty trying to waste the final four seconds of regulation. In short:
Rule 3-2-3. "The period is not extended if the foul is by the team and possession and the penalty includes loss of down." Oops.

Mid-American referee Tim O’Dey agrees, and he should. It’s a fairly clear-cut rule.
Cowboys coach Mike Gundy said he asked about the rule and was given an erroneous explanation by an official.
And then there’s this.

Oof.
Oklahoma State fans should brace for the hollow victory of an official announcement that the end of the game was handled incorrectly. Central’s incredible win will stand, much like Miami’s win over Duke stood last year.
What a brutal way to lose.
