Army defensive back Brandon Jackson was killed in a single-car accident on Sunday, the academy announced. Jackson, a 20-year-old sophomore, hit a guardrail while driving in in Westchester County around 1:50 a.m., according to police.

“Words cannot describe the grief that our team is feeling over the loss of our brother and friend, Brandon” Army coach Jeff Monken said in a statement. “He was a beloved teammate and our hearts are with his family at this time of tragedy.”

Jackson had three tackles in the Black Knight’s 31-14 victory over Rice hours before his death. He had a team-high three interceptions in 2015.

His teammates took to Twitter to react.
