We've Reached the Jemele Hill vs. Kate Upton Stage of the National Anthem Controversy

Players from around the NFL declined to stand up for the national anthem on Sunday in a show of solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. The fact that the opening Sunday just happened to fall on the 15th anniversary of 9/11 ratcheted up the controversy and created an awkward alignment.
Kate Upton decided to add her voice to the fray with an Instagram post suggesting protesting on 9/11 was disgraceful. It’s not an opinion unique to Upton but that doesn’t mean it went unchallenged.

Things then got further off the track when Upton’s politician uncle, Fred, and his voting record against the Zadroga Act came into play.
