We’re heading into Week 3 of college football. 2016 is a “make or break” year for a number of SEC coaches. We’ll be updating the hot seat rankings  on a weekly basis.

Mark Stoops [Kentucky] Kentucky lost 45-7 to Florida. Until their late, garbage touchdown, the Wildcats had gone five quarters without scoring. They allowed 10 yards/attempt to Luke Del Rio. Expect to hear a great deal about Mark Stoops’ $12 million buyout.

Les Miles [LSU] Last week’s quarterback savior was a Purdue transfer who completed 43 percent of his passes against Jacksonville State. LSU’s passing game development remains inexcusable. That’s…that’s Tom Herman’s music.

Gus Malzhan [Auburn] That “Gus Malzahn offense” put up 706 total yards at 8.3 yards/play and converted 11/15 third downs. We’ll see whether that was a revelation or Arkansas’ defense.

Derek Mason [Vanderbilt] Half full? Vanderbilt scored 47 points and beat an FBS team, Middle Tennessee. Half empty? Kyle Shurmur averaged only 4.0 yards per pass attempt in the process.

Butch Jones [Tennessee] Three touchdown win over Virginia Tech turned down the burner a bit. Though, Vols fans were breathing into bags when Tennessee went down 14-0 in the first quarter. Check back in when SEC play begins.
