Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a shoulder injury that could “take six weeks to heal” according to the Boston Herald. Garoppolo, who looked like a superstar for the first six quarters of the season, was hit by Kiko Alonso of the Dolphins and landed on his shoulder. He staked the Patriots a 24-3 lead. New England hung on for a 31-24 victory.

Garoppolo went to the locker room and didn’t return. Jacoby Brissett, a rookie from NC State, will start in Week 3 at home against the Texans according to the paper. Houston has one of the best pass rushes in the league through the first two weeks of the season (nine sacks), and JJ Watt and Jadaveon Clowney are both healthy.

The Patriots don’t get Tom Brady back from suspension until Week 5 against Cleveland. New England probably will sign a veteran this week, perhaps Peyton Manning or trade for Brian Hoyer.
