Mariners Distance Themselves from Steve Clevenger's Tweets [UPDATE]

The Mariners released this statement about tweets sent by their backup catcher Steve Clevenger:

Clevenger’s account is protected now, but his tweets were screengrabbed by Yahoo’s Jeff Passan:

Clevenger has appeared in 22 games this season; he’s batting .221 with one home run and seven RBI’s.

UPDATE: Clevenger’s season is over; it will be interesting to see the response from the MLBPA:
