Houston Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler is making $18 million per season and is surrounded by a talented roster. His play was bound to be examined with an intense microscope. And through three games, it hasn’t been anything spectacular.

Osweiler has thrown three touchdowns and four interceptions while posting a 72.2 passer rating. The Texans have gone 2-1 and sit atop the AFC South.

In short, it hasn’t been a disaster but there’s definitely room for improvement.

Osweiler had an interesting response to criticism that he can’t read defenses. It won’t be universally loved by Texans fans.

"“I think that’s hilarious, to be honest with you,” he said. “The critique comes from a whole lot of people that don’t know my read on that play. They’ve probably never actually sat in an offensive meeting in their life, let alone a quarterback meeting in the National Football League. “That’s why I don’t look at Twitter. That’s why – no offense to anybody (media) in here — I don’t watch anything. I don’t read anything.”"

“Hilarious” isn’t a great word choice but the real takeaway here is that Osweiler is denying himself of infinite laughs by refusing to read Osweiler-related content. Why wouldn’t he seek it out if it brings him such joy and levity?

Odd choice. Life’s too short to pass up chuckles.
