Odell Beckham Jr. Says He's 'Not Having Fun Anymore'

Odell Beckham Jr. is all over the news today for his actions on and off the field this week. Now he’s claiming that he’s “not having fun anymore” because of the increased attention on him during games.

After Beckham’s New York Giants lost to the Minnesota Vikings Monday night, the 23-year-old receiver discussed his mental state following an on-field meltdown.

Beckham told ESPN’s Anita Marks:

"“Football is my sanctuary. it’s where I go to escape. It’s where I’m most happy. I’m not having fun anymore.”"

On Monday night, Beckham was flagged for taunting and appeared on the verge of a brawl with Vikings defensive back Xavier Rhodes on several occasions. At one point, officials didn’t penalize Rhodes for what Beckham believed was a late hit, but flagged the Giants wideout when he bumped Rhodes after the incident.

When asked about Beckham’s statement that he isn’t enjoying himself anymore, Giants head coach Ben McAdoo said, “I have no response.”

Beckham had a career-worst 23 receiving yards on just three catches Monday night and is clearly frustrated with his role in the Giants’ offense. He told Marks, “What I’m communicating, we’re not doing. I’m not getting the opportunities to contribute and that’s frustrating to me.”

Beckham has been a Pro Bowler in each of his first two seasons. He’s obviously highly-competitive but he’s also shown himself to be wildly immature. This is just the latest example of that bubbling to the surface.
