Edwin Encarnacion hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Toronto Blue Jays a 5-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Wild Card Game. The slugger only needed to hit a fly ball in order to score the game-winning run from third but made sure he ended things in style by turning a Ubaldo Jimenez mistake into a 440-foot bomb. Both Encarnacion and catcher Matt Wieters knew the game was over upon impact and had immediate reactions of euphoria and despair, respectively.

Buck Showalter’s inability to get closer and Cy Young candidate Zach Britton on the mound with the season on the line will be the major talking point to emerge from this contest and rightly so. The inexplicable decision will haunt Orioles fans for years to come.
