We all know about Hardy’s issues with domestic assault, but what was just as chilling was his complete lack of anything close to an apology for his heinous actions. Yeah, he didn’t suffer the legal consequences for this assault because his accuser became uncooperative, but Hardy never once showed an ounce of contrition for what he did. You can’t look at the photos from the incident with Hardy’s ex-girlfriend and not feel anger or believe a word that comes out of his mouth.
Maybe I’m being harsh here, but to get a second chance you have to earn it. You have to show that you’ve learned, grown and become a better person. Hardy’s head is so far up his own ass I doubt he could find a way out, let alone take a lesson from his NFL exile.
That’s not saying he can’t eventually rehab his image. He certainly can and he has every right to try. But at this point, why should we give him the benefit of the doubt on anything?
He’s a guy who has zero self-awareness and doesn’t seem to think he’s done anything wrong. If the UFC truly wants to be a reputable organization, associating itself with a guy like Greg Hardy isn’t the way to endear itself to the masses.
Hardy isn’t someone who has learned his lesson or turned his life around. He hasn’t earned a second chance or some kind of shot at redemption.
