Curt Schilling is ready to take the leap from social media political warrior to actual politician. After flirting with the idea for months, Schilling told Ted Nesi of WPRI that he’s going to run for a seat in the United States Senate in 2018.

The hard-core conservative former Red Sox hurler will be facing powerful and popular Democrat Elizabeth Warren.

We’ve long discussed Schilling’s many crazy political statements and his penchant for posting wildly inaccurate memes and statistics. One of those memes got him fired from a cushy gig at ESPN. Recently, Schilling attempted to defend Donald Trump’s more ridiculous statements and it didn’t exactly go well.

Schilling is a hardcore Trump supporter and a former popular Boston athlete. He’ll have a decent base of support to start from. But Warren is one of the most popular politicians in Washington and Massachusetts is a Democratic stronghold. I somehow don’t see this ending well. But hey, it’ll be entertaining, right?
