Ryan Fitzpatrick is still, somehow, the starting quarterback for the New York Jets. There is no reason for him to be the starter besides the fact that the Jets spent two months over the summer begging him to take $12 million dollars to be their starting quarterback. Fitzpatrick fought the Jets valiantly before signing as training camp began.

Fitzmagic has rewarded the team by throwing 5 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The The Jets are 1-5 and a full game behind every other team in the AFC – except the Cleveland Browns.

Fitzpatrick was benched late in the Jets’ latest loss on Monday night, but didn’t lose his starting job according to coach Todd Bowles. Fitzpatrick will be back under center in the next game – as he was after his 6-pick masterpiece earlier this season. The main reason being that the Jets really don’t want Geno Smith playing quarterback. Still, Smith remains confident to the point of his own frustration.

When Smith did get in he threw an interception. That’s why the Jets spent the summer begging Fitzpatrick to return. Geno Smith is a fate worse than missing the playoffs. And they’re already missing the playoffs.
