Dwyane Wade made a successful return to his hometown Thursday night, as he led the Chicago Bulls to a 105-99 win in his first game with the franchise. Unfortunately for Wade, he lost a pretty serious chunk of change as a result of his actions during the contest.

On Friday, the NBA announced it was fining Wade $25,000 for the throat-slash gesture he made with 26.3 seconds left in the win over the Boston Celtics.

Here’s video of the incident:

After the game Wade tweeted an apology:

I’ll give Wade a pass on this one. It was clearly a pretty emotional night for him. He was returning home and playing his first NBA game for a franchise other than the Miami Heat. I feel confident that he just got carried away in the moment.
