Dexter McCluster can officially be added to the “dumbest sports injuries” list. The San Diego Chargers running back was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list on Saturday after fracturing his forearm in a household accident involving luggage and his cellphone.

McCluster described the accident to the San Diego Union-Tribune:

"“I had surgery on it last year. I was looking for my phone at the house, and my wife, she packed a bag. She came down from Tennessee. So when I moved (the suitcase), I yanked it, and I didn’t realize there was something in there. I felt a sharp pain in my wrist. … I yanked it out of the way, and luck of the draw. “It was horrible. I saw my fingers turn blue and purple, so I called (athletic trainer James Collins), and we got some pictures of it. A fracture. It happens. Life is random, man. Just stay positive and keep going.”"

McCluster is the third Chargers running back to be lost due to an injury, but the first to do it while looking for his cellphone.
