Tim Tebow got a game-winning hit (it will go down as a line drive in the box score, as they say), and so he’s trending upwards. Mets GM Sandy Alderson is in Arizona for the GM meetings, and was asked whether Tebow would be on the 40-man roster and invited to spring training with the team.
According to the New York Daily News, that prompted Alderson to laugh. We assume a literal LOL.
He then spent time defending Tim Tebow, and that it would take time. He also offered this tepid endorsement of Tebow’s progress as a hitter going against top prospects in Arizona.
We thought he could hold his own in the batter’s box. He has largely done that,” Alderson said. “His strikeout rate is not horrendous, he’s making decent contact, he’s getting better.”
Not horrendous is a good step.
