William Hayes revealed on Hard Knocks this summer that he does not believe in dinosaurs, but does believe that mermaids exist. Jimmy Kimmel took him for a visit to the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles to see if he could change his mind (or to provide a funny segment, you decide.)

The highlight was when they looked at a fossil of Pakicetus Attocki, a land-dwelling ancestor of whales. That brought on a “come on, man. hell no, it ain’t no whale,” from Hayes.

The other highlight was when Hayes revealed that he would like to have sex with a mermaid “if she was bad enough.”

The trip wasn’t a total loss. Hayes now believes in unicorns after seeing an ancient ancestor of the horse. And it did get him to believe even more in mermaids, and renewed his focus on finding Ariel.
