Bruce Buffer Screws Up Royally At UFC 205

Bruce Buffer has been the UFC’s ring announcer for years, so you’d expect the guy to have the drill down by now. But on Saturday night at UFC 205, Buffer had an incredibly embarrassing screw up.

After the welterweight title fight between Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson went the distance, Buffer announced the results. Pay close attention:

That’s great for Woodley! But there’s just one problem…when two cards are a draw and one gives the edge to a fighter, the result is a majority draw, not a split decision.

In what was a really awkward and embarrassing moment, they had to change the ruling a bit later:

The result doesn’t change much, as Woodley would have retained his belt either way. It was just really embarrassing for everyone involved.
