Miesha Tate announced her retirement after she lost to Raquel Pennington Saturday night at UFC 205. Pennington won by unanimous decision 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27.

In the ring after the fight, Tate told Joe Rogan she was retiring because of the result, but also due to the amount of punishment she has taken over the course of her career.

Tate suffered her second loss in a row Saturday night, as Amanda Nunes beat her by submission in July at UFC 200.

Tate and Ronda Rousey have been near the top of the women’s mixed martial arts game for years. The 30-year-old Tate has an 18-7 record and has held both the Strikeforce and UFC women’s bantamweight championships.

Tate will certainly be remembered as a pioneer in the sport and her long-running feud with Rousey has been one of MMA’s best.
