Last week the PGA Tour announced that the Zurich Classic would be a team event. It will be the first official team event in 40 years the Tour has featured. There was no announcement on how the teams would be chosen last week, but now we have all the details.

The tournament will consist of 160 players in 80 teams of two. They will play one round of alternate shot and one round of best ball to determine who will make the cut. Only 35 teams will make the cut and the winning team will earn 400 FedExCup points and a two-year exemption.

There are a couple of teams that have already been announced. Rickie Fowler and Justin Rose announced they’ll be pairing with Jason Day and Henrik Stenson on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive.

Seamus Power would like to pair up with Rory McIlroy for the event. Who wouldn’t?

Meanwhile, new PGA Tour member Wesley Bryan would like to pair with some guy named Tiger Woods, which I think would be fun to see.

This could turn out to be one of the more fun tournaments of the season that isn’t a WGC event or a major.
