Visiting Coach Rips Arkansas Crowd for Not Being Loud Enough

Barry Hinson is coach at Southern Illinois now, but he’s been around. He attended Oklahoma State and his last job was at Kansas, so it’s fair to say he’s qualified to make qualitative judgments about college basketball crowds.

And, man, he did not hold off on the crowd at Arkansas on Monday night, when his team lost 90-65 in front of an announced crowd of 4,270.

It’s generally off-putting to see someone expend some of their self-righteous indignation on scolding people for choosing to spend their limited expendable time and money on something other than sports tickets. It’s a great big world out there. I mean, Art Garfunkel is playing in Fayetteville next month.

And yet I just can’t stay mad at Barry Hinson.
