Kansas' Frank Mason Drops No. 1 Duke with Game Winner

Kansas trailed big early, shot 9-for-19 from the free-throw line and 2-for-16 from 3-point range and still beat No. 1 Duke 77-75 Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.

This result was primarily the responsibility of KU guard Frank Mason, who led the No. 7 Jayhawks with 21 points and hit a pullup jumper with 1.8 seconds left to drop the Blue Devils, who were playing without injured freshmen Jayson Tatum, Marques Bolden and Harry Giles.

With 49 fouls called, it was a disjointed game that made it difficult to draw conclusions. Kansas’ star freshman, Josh Jackson, fouled out with five minutes left, having scored 15 points on nine shots in 18 minutes. For Duke, it was Luke Kennard who carried the load, scoring 22 to go with five rebounds and five assists.

Grayson Allen went 4-for-15 and scored 12.
