Mike Tirico Will Replace Al Michaels on a "Few Games" Per Cris Collinsworth
By Kyle Koster

Bill Simmons had Cris Collinsworth on his podcast. The two made nice after the NBC analyst’s epic Twitter burn singlehandedly kept the internet warm for a few hours earlier this week. During their discussion, Collinsworth broke a bit of news after Simmons joked about 72-year-old Al Michaels’ heavy workload this week which includes a game on both Thursday and Sunday night.
“I don’t think he’s doing Sunday,” Collinsworth said of his broadcasting partner. “I don’t think he is. He’s going to have a few games off — not weeks off — and Mike Tirico’s going to come in and do a few of these games. I don’t know exactly which games it is that he’s going to do but they’re going to take care of my boy because we want him to be broadcasting at age 957.”
UPDATE: Matt Bonesteel of the Washington Post reports:
SCOOP: Al Michaels will get some days off over the rest of the season. Mike Tirico to take over for 3 games, starting Sunday. Story soon.
