If Oregon Ducks fans needed some salt rubbed on their wound after they lost to their rival Oregon State, here’s one that could hurt a bit.

Oregon alum Phil Knight, who is a huge donor to the University of Oregon and a huge supporter of the football program, wasn’t even watching the Civil War last night.

Instead, he was congratulating Ohio State — the team that beat Oregon in the College Football Playoff in 2015. Eugene, prepare for your hearts to sink.

Here’s what Knight said about the Buckeyes after they defeated the Michigan Wolverines yesterday:

"“Of the Top 25 NCAA teams, Nike supplies twenty of them. None of those teams are we more proud of than the one in this dressing room. Congratulations, you were fabulous.”"

Knight covered his tracks as to not insult Oregon — considering they are nowhere near a Top 25 program this season. However, after UO lost in an ugly game to their state rival, the compliments for Ohio State can’t feel fantastic.

The Ducks are bowl ineligible this season while Ohio State is on the way back to the College Football Playoff.
