The first round of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters has been suspended after a caddie passed away at Emirates Golf Club.
According to MailOnline, France’s Anne-Lise Caudal’s caddie Max Zechmann fell ill on the 13th fairway after suffering a heart attack. Medics treated him while on the course, but he died later in the hospital.
The tournament released the following statement:
No player had passed the 10th hole during the first round and 54 had yet to tee off. The tournament has been shortened from 72 holes to 54 after the event.
Many professional golfers offered their condolences through Twitter.
