Fran Tarkenton Can't Believe Jared Goff Was A First-Round Pick

It’s been an eventful last 24 hours for the Los Angeles Rams. They got smoked by the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in front of a half-empty stadium, then on Monday Jeff Fisher was finally fired. And to throw salt in the wound on Monday afternoon, Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton ripped Rams signal-caller Jared Goff.

Goff had a horrendous showing on Sunday and Tarkenton took notice, tweeting the following:

Ouch. I mean, Fran is being a bit harsh here, but he has a reason to be. Goff has been a disaster so far this year. And to make it worse, the Rams won’t even get a top draft pick for their awful season (they’re currently 4-9).

In order to secure Goff’s services the Rams traded up for the first pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. They sent Tennessee their first, two seconds and third-round pick in the 2016 draft, plus their first- and third-rounders in the 2017 draft.

Don’t just dismiss Tarkenton’s criticism. The last young quarterback Fran was unimpressed with was Johnny Manziel. How did that one turn out?
