Rusev Asking Lana's Father for Marriage Blessing Is Kinda Awkward TV

Rusev and Lana are featured in this season of Total Divas and it’s a solid bet that their stature on core WWE programming will grow over the next few years. In the above scene, Rusev asks Lana’s father for his blessing to marry his daughter, and it’s awkward for a couple of reasons — a) Lana is sitting right there, presumably terrified of the worst case scenario, and b) they were already engaged at the time.

Because it’s WWE and reality television, who the hell knows how much of this is real versus scripted. Probably more the latter than the former. Nevertheless, having just experienced the engagement and wedding planning process, my heart goes out to Rusev for battling through this circumstance.
