The WakeyLeaks scandal continues to envelop the sporting landscape. It’s been arguably the biggest story this week, and would only be that much more insane if this were about a program in, say, the SEC or B1G as opposed to Wake Forest.
Earlier this week, Louisville AD Tom Jurich gave a “sorry not sorry” statement acknowledging his team had received information from now-former Wake Forest radio analyst Tommy Elrod, but downplaying its value. However, Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson went on Mike and Mike today, and if this description is accurate, then Jurich’s statement is not.
Eric Crawford, of WDRB in Louisville, transcribed the relevant portion:
Yikes. My initial feeling in these circumstances is that of course Louisville would take advantage of information like this if someone connected with the Wake program was giving it away, but to a) take it to this level, and b) allegedly leave this much of a paper trail is pretty hubristic.
It will be fascinating to see how the ACC deals with the programs that received information over the past couple years.
