NC Central Loses Celebration Bowl Due to Excessive Celebration Penalty

North Carolina Central’s Quentin Atkinson scored on a 39-yard touchdown catch with 2:14 remaining in regulation to close Grambling State’s Celebration Bowl lead to 10-9. He then removed his helmet in the end zone, drawing a 15-yard penalty for excessive celebration. The resulting 35-yard PAT was then blocked by the Tigers. Grambling recovered the subsequent onside kick and was able to run out the clock by earning a first down.

Shorter: the Celebration Bowl was decided by an excessive celebration penalty. Can’t make this stuff up.
