Lane Kiffin Asks If Nick Saban Rat Poisoned Himself

Florida Atlantic coach Lane Kiffin is poking and prodding Nick Saban again, bringing up the infamous “rat poison” line. Alabama, of course, will not be a conference champion this year and needs some help to get into the College Football Playoff.

The thing about this three-box story, though, is that we had a hard time finding any evidence Saban gave the quote attributed to him last year. Obviously, coaches will bend their opinions and contort themselves in whatever way best suits their interest.

Having said that, Alabama was in no matter what last year so there wouldn’t have been much of an upside for Saban to wade into the Ohio State-Penn State argument.

Maybe this is one of those things that’s better left unexplored. We wouldn’t want Kiffin to stop trolling Saban based on a singular bad meme. His work is far too important to be derailed by pesky fact-checking.
