The College Football Playoff has been announced and there’s no controversy. That’s right, no one is publishing strong takes on the internet so it’s time to dive into the important stuff. Like the point spreads.

Per ESPN’s David Purdum, Oklahoma opened up as a 3-point favorite over Georgia in the Rose Bowl and Alabama opened as a 1-point favorite over Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.

My gut says the Oklahoma line may creep up a bit and the Alabama one will veer toward a pick ’em. If there’s a major takeaway here, it’s that the Tide are favored over the top overall seed. That’s a window into the type of respect they clearly carry with bettors and, more than likely, into the committee selection room.
