Mario Cristobal would make the most sense as the next head football coach at Oregon. I still believe that after I wrote it in the wake of Willie Taggart bolting for Florida State. Now it appears Oregon’s players are lobbying for him to get the job too.

More than 70 Ducks players have apparently signed a petition demanding Cristobal be made the permanent head coach.

That’s senior offensive tackle Tyrell Crosby, who was also First Team All-Pac-12. Not only is Crosby lobbying hard for Cristobal to get the job, he switched his Twitter avatar to a picture of the coach.

Cristobal is acting as interim head coach from now through the team’s appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl against Boise State. No one knows who the Ducks are looking at as a potential replacement for Taggart, but it would seem the players have made their choice clear.
