After reports that Giancarlo Stanton would not waive his no-trade clause for either the St. Louis Cardinals or San Francisco Giants, you knew that it was set up for the New York Yankees to swoop in and get their next big acquisition. Jon Heyman is now reporting that a deal that will send Stanton to New York has been finalized.

The details on what the Yankees are sending to Derek Jeter’s new team have not been released yet, but assume that it will have some prospects plus at least one of the veteran bats who will be replaced by Stanton in the lineup. This now sets up a middle of the Yankees order that will include Stanton, Aaron Judge, and Gary Sanchez, who hit a combined 144 home runs last year. Stanton is the oldest of the group at age 28. The Bronx Bombers returned last year but that will just be super-sized in 2018 and going forward. We also now have a Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez situation, as one of the two will have to switch positions from RF. Somehow I think they’ll figure it out.
