Tom Brady Had His Worst Game of the Season vs Miami, Finally Looked 40 at QB

In December 2016, Tom Brady was tremendous. He looked spry and fresh at the age of 39, throwing 7 TDs and just one interception in four games as the Patriots went 4-0. Brady had a tough game in Denver, as many QBs, do, but otherwise he was terrific against the Rams, Ravens and Jets (QB Rating: 99.9).

But 2016 was a unique season for Brady, as he was suspended for the first four games due to that silly deflategate saga.

So far in December 2017, Brady has looked his age for the first time this season. He struggled in Buffalo last week, not throwing a TD pass for the first time since the season opener, and getting intercepted in a hard fought win over the Bills.

Then Brady went to South Beach – minus Rob Gronkowski – and had his worst game of the season, throwing two interceptions and posting his worst QB rating of the season (59.5). Brady was sacked twice and hit six times, and because the Patriots couldn’t generate a running game (25 yards on 10 carries), Brady was forced into a lot of 3rd and long situations. For the first time since 1991, New England didn’t convert a 3rd down (0-for-11).

Just how much is his Achilles bothering him? Brady has thrown four interceptions in the last three games; he only had two in the prior 10 games combined. Is this Father Time creeping in, or just a mini-slump?

There are only questions, no answers.

But with the Game of the Year this Sunday in Pittsburgh, which will determine home field advantage in the playoffs, we’ll soon know what, if anything, there is to worry about with Tom Brady.
