Antonio Brown appeared to suffer a lower leg injury when he was hit in the end zone by Patriots defensive back Damon Harmon. Brown was down for a bit and had to be helped off the field, unable to put any power on his leg.

After Brown went into the injury tent, he was able to limp on the leg, but still needed some support.

This has been a particularly brutal NFL season as far as injuries to the game’s brightest stars has been concerned, and it would really suck if Brown — a legitimate MVP candidate — has to miss the playoffs now because of this injury.

UPDATE: It’s a calf injury for Antonio Brown. While those can linger, that would appear to qualify as good news in the long run for Brown and the Steelers.

UPDATE II: Mike Tomlin told CBS’s Tracy Wolfson that Brown is out for the game.

UPDATE III: Now Brown is headed to the hospital. Given that the Steelers initially said he was questionable to return to today’s game, this could prove more serious than was first hoped when it was announced he had a calf injury.
