The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz had MLB commissioner Rob Manfred on the program today, and it was obviously going to be contentious from the get-go. Le Batard has long viewed his show as a platform to communicate the issues of South Florida, and he has been highly critical of Rob Manfred allowing an ownership group of Bruce Sherman and Derek Jeter to come in and dump payroll — specifically trading MVP Giancarlo Stanton to the Yankees for little in return — after the Miami area ponied up over a billion dollars in taxpayer money for a new stadium.
The interview started with Le Batard accusing Manfred of telling a lie that he was not aware of the new ownership group’s plans to gut their team, and Manfred taking exception to that. There was a consistent look of anguish on Le Batard’s face as Manfred provided answers that were unsatisfactory to him. This interview was not an easy experience for either party.
