UFC 106: Ortiz vs. Griffin II

UFC 21 Comments »

At one point this card was going to be an absolute super card. Then Brock Lesnar got sick. And Jon Fitch got a new opponent and moved to UFC 107. And just to keep the hits coming, Karo Parisyan pulled out of his fight yesterday because of anxiety. Even after all that, UFC 106 remains pretty damn good. And just like last couple UFC pay-per-views, there are free fights on SpikeTV before the main card. Read the rest of this entry »

NFL Pigskin Pigsplosion Preview Week 11

NFL, Pigskin Pigsplosion 64 Comments »

I think its great that LeBron James is going to play for the Browns.  An big athletic tight end that hasn’t played organized football for the better part of a decade is just what the city of Cleveland needs to turn around its football team.

Ironically - or coincidentally, I can never remember - the answer to the Cavaliers’ problems is on the Browns’ roster. Read the rest of this entry »

Spike’s College Football Comedy

College Football, TV 15 Comments »

The people at SpikeTV were good enough to send me an early look at their newest original program, Blue Mountain State. While I doubt it will live up to the high benchmark of quality set by Factory, it is about college football. And you guys love college football, don’tcha?

Rotnei Clarke Is Open, You Just Can’t Tell

College Basketball 7 Comments »

Rotnei Clarke of Arkansas set a school record with 51-points last night. He hit 13 threes on 17 attempts. Now, you’ll have to excuse me while I make a wanking motion because he did it in 34 minutes in a game his team won 130-68 against Alcorn State.

Yeah, Arkansas needed all 51 of those points. Rotnei’s 13th three-pointer iced the game putting the Razorbacks up 118-49 with 5 and a half minutes to go. And I was all ready to start a much longer rant about why this kid played so damn many minutes in a blowout of this proportion, but then I took a closer look at the box score and thought it was overly-peculiar that Arkansas would only play 5 guys off the bench. EJ Henderson Got Married

NFL, WAG 22 Comments »

EJ Henderson of the Vikings doesn’t mess around when it comes to wedding planning. There was a guy there hand rolling cigars. There was gambling. There was karaoke. They even had one of those stupid little photo booths. They had everything. This was like every episode of every show on Oxygen combined, except they put Method Man and Mary J. Blige over the original audio so you couldn’t hear the bride open her awful mouth. Well done.

Brian Kelly Will Outcoach You

College Football, NBA 238 Comments »

Tonight ESPN2 has the undefeated Cincinatti Bearcats hosting West Viriginia. Cincy continues to impress despite the fact that they lost their starting quarterback Tony Pike to injury after a 6-0 start. At the time of his injury, Pike was completing 64 percent of his passes for more than 1600 yards, 15 scores and just 3 picks. Pretty good.

Of course, sophomore Zach Collaros stepped in and promptly made Pike look like a novice. Collaros has thrown for 948 yards, 8 TD and just zero picks in his first three starts. He’s completed 80 percent of his passes since becoming the starter. A lot of the credit is going coach Brian Kelly’s way. Rightfully so. Read the rest of this entry »

Pacquiao vs. Cotto Preview

Boxing 35 Comments »

pacquiao-vs-cotto-posterWhile I’ll be at the bar watching UFC 105, many of you will be shelling out 60 bucks or so to watch two little guys punch each other repeatedly in the ring. I’m okay with that. Since I’m primarily an MMA guy, I decided to ask one of my co-bloggers from The Rumble to give you guys a little preview of the biggest fight this weekend. So here are the words of Avi “Shoefly” Korine.

Manny Pacquiao is a little Filipino man with a funny mustache. He is also, by nearly unanimous consensus, considered the best boxer in the world. He will be fighting Miguel Cotto on Saturday in the most highly anticipated fight of year. Read the rest of this entry »

NFL Pigskins Pigsplosion Preview: Week 10

NFL, Pigskin Pigsplosion 69 Comments »

pigsplosion11I don’t think I can top last week’s Pigsplosion, so I won’t try. I guess we could talk about how much Jay Cutler sucks, but that’s already been done to death. Quite frankly, I’m sick of talking about quarterbacks because lets face it - they all suck. It comes down to their lines and the skill players around them. Aaron Rogers, Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady, Matt Cassel, Dan Marino, Steve DeBerg - they’re all the same. They just have different bad hair cuts. Read the rest of this entry »
