Oregon Suspends LeGarrette Blount For Rest of Season

College Football, Dumb College Kids, Fighting 97 Comments »

Oregon has suspended LeGarrette Blount for the rest of the season, ending his college football career.  Blount will remain on scholarship.  He can practice and participate in other activities.  He just can’t play in games.

“I just apologize to everybody that was watching this – ESPN, national TV – I just apologize to all of our fans, all the Boise fans,” Blount said. “It was just something that I shouldn’t have done. I lost my head, and I shouldn’t have taken it that far.”

TBL thought two games was sensible, so this seems harsh, particularly since he was provoked.  Though, Oregon wanting to rid themselves of this situation is understandable.  If this was hockey, he would have received a five minute penalty and been praised for his pluck.

Micheal Phelps Apologizes For “Inappropriate Behavior”

Drugs, Dumb College Kids, Michael Phelps 21 Comments »

Remember last night when I told you that a certain young man had smoked a little weed and it was met with some skepticism? Well, be skeptical no more, for Michael Phelps has apologized for his college kid behavior.

The apology is brought to us by Rueters by way of Yahoo!

“I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment,” Phelps, the winner of a record eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics last year, said in a statement after the News of the World published the photograph.

“I’m 23-years-old, and despite the successes I have had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner that people have come to expect from me,” Phelps added.

“For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public – it will not happen again.”

elisha-cuthbert-bikini-3-19.jpgI know I’m super-psyched that Friday is finally here… TGIF indeed.. I’m ready to go home and pop on a Beerfest-Hot Fuzz double feature and not move until I go home to visit my mom sometime this weekend… Of course I haven’t gotten her anything… I’m going to use this article as an excuse… Or maybe I’ll take Mike and Mike’s advice and head to JCPenny’s… I haven’t really decided yet…

Patrick Imig of Yardwork infamy will take you through the weekend’s many major sporting events… Until then you can try any of us…

I have to say part of me hates the paparazzi… But part of me wants to shake their scummy collective hand for things like the last week’s worth of Elisha Cuthbert photos…

College Athletes + Drinking + Facebook = Suspension

Dumb College Kids, Other College Sports 50 Comments »

If you look in the athlete internet rulebook (it exists, trust us), rule No. 1 is in 42-point font, bolded, and underlined, with stars all around it: If you must take photos of your teammates drinking, do not, under any circumstances, post them on the internet. Suspensions are one thing, but losing a scholarship over a night with a bottle of Beam in a hotel room totally isn’t worth it. We’ve got no idea what kinky shenanigans are taking place in this photo. Must be a Slippery Cock Rock University thing.
