We’re a few weeks late on the December numbers, but you’ll find them below. All the big boys had a terrific month. Can they thank Tiger Woods? He got in the accident late in November, and there was Tiger news seemingly every day (every hour?) in December. You’d think traffic would slow down around the holidays with everyone taking time off work and spending time with family instead of surfing for sports news … but no. We’ve included the December 2008 numbers as well so you can see the kind of growth everyone’s had. (And because we always have trouble coming with an idea for a photo here: Brooklyn Decker.) Stephen A. Smith: He's writing again for the Philadelphia Inquirer. His first piece is on the 76ers. Presumably, he flew down from Miami Friday to watch their game against the Hornets, hence the dateline. Then, he flew back to Miami in time to offer up perhaps the most self-serving media tweet of 2010. Lacey Chabert … draw on your desk, end up in handcuffs … werewolves, hair, and the movies … updates on that Middletown, Connecticut power plant explosion … man jumps off balcony hugging his inflatable doll girlfriend … laughable – it’s not like they can throw you in jail … you knew Social Security needed a bailout sometime … a good LOST read … “One man popped up on people’s screens in the act of fornicating with a head of lettuce” … horribly sad: parents learn of their son’s death on facebook …
The day begins with the scene on Bourbon Street in New Orleans last night. (NYT)

Warren Sapp of the NFL Network was arrested early Saturday morning for domestic battery against his girlfriend. “According to the Miami Beach Police Department, Sapp is accused of attacking his girlfriend of two years at around 5:00 AM Saturday at the Shore Club Hotel. When cops spoke to Sapp, he told them he had allowed the woman to stay in his room – but later on decided he wanted her to leave because ‘he was expecting company.’” The NFL Network has pulled Sapp from tomorrow’s programming which just happens to be the biggest day of the NFL season. Rough weekend for the network – first Michael Irvin (who has filed a counter suit) and now this. [TMZ]
Suzy Kolber: If you want to read a journalist slobber all over Suzy Kolber, here you go. “When Suzy Kolber appears on the TV screen with a microphone interviewing athletes for ESPN … most guys think the same thing: Gosh, she’s cute. It’s an understandable reaction. She is. But there’s so much more there than meets the eye.” No mention of the home-wrecking romance with her MNF producer. Please tell us we didn’t sound this awestruck in the Brooklyn Decker interview. [Indy Star]
