If Oakland Raiders fans are sick of hearing about Tom Cable vs. an assistant, or Tom Cable vs. ex-wives and ex-girlfriends, or the Raiders vs. ESPN … how about a former Raider vs. a county supervisor at a pee-wee football practice? Jeremy Brigham is a former Oakland Raiders tight end, and also the coach of a pee-wee football team. He fired his assistant coach, who, according to Brigham, leaked the team’s plays to an opponent. When the former assistant went to pick up his kid from practice, Bringham beat the guy up and put him in the hospital. Anyone seen Bill Romanowski lately?

Then, the two went off to a “secluded area” to further discuss the situation, and the next thing you know, VonKahle was in the hospital with a “suffered a shattered eye socket, a broken nose, and a concussion.” [Boston Globe]

AAU is Bad for Basketball: Tremendous piece on how AAU is hurting American basketball players. Everyone has known this for years, but the quotes (especially some from Michael Beasley) make the story. Said SVG: “They aren’t learning to handle the ball, they aren’t learning to make plays against pressure. The emphasis with our high-school players is to get exposure and play as many games as you can and show everybody how great you are. If I can win the 11-and-12 year old league and tell all my friends about it, that is a whole lot more important than if my kids actually get any better or learn anything about the game.” [Wall Street Journal]
