From Detroit (Via Russia) With Love (Merry Christmas)
Happy Holiday!, NHL, Something Positive 24 Comments »These two attractive young blonds are Alyonka and Diana, duaghters of NHL veteran, Igor Larionov. And this video is their song, “That’s What Christmas Means To Me.” According to the Detroit Free Press, the song has been released to help benefit Hockey Fights Cancer which is a pretty damn good cause. The video also has some cameos by current NHL’ers so, this video also fights the lack of hockey coverage on The Big Lead.com. That’s what we in the biz call “placating two birds with one video.”

Apologies in advance for all the downtime yesterday, but an end of the year purge/cleanup was necessary before forging into 2009. To anyone at work today … sorry, but we won’t be posting. We’ll be back with a couple of posts tomorrow, and even a few Friday.
And yes, it pains us to not post today, especially since there’s plenty of post-worthy material: Larry Fitzgerlad, girlfriend beater? Mike Shanahan, fired. Portland, minus Brandon Roy, stuns Boston, as Greg Oden finishes the year with two straight double-doubles. Ana Ivanovic, frolicking on the beach in a bikini with an Australian golfer. Rough night in Oklahoma: No. 4 Sooners lost to unranked Arkansas, and the Cowboys lost to the Ducks in the Holiday Bowl.
We’ll close out the year by patting ourselves on the back. Do note some of the names at the bottom. Be safe out there tonight, kids.

Thirteen years to the day after he was acquitted of murder in a celebrated trial, Juice was led away in handcuffs after a jury found him guilty of robbing two sports-memorabilia dealers at gunpoint. Simpson, 61, stood, sighed and shook his head.
He was convicted of 12 charges, including kidnapping, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. He could face up to life in prison, and Judge Jackie Glass set a Dec. 5 sentencing date. Read the rest of this entry »

Championship Sunday is finally here and I know I’m excited. I think I might mention that fact in every post today…so be warned…Savor the games today, people, because after the Packers and Giants get done battling this evening it’s going to be 2 weeks before we get to see organized football again…and there’s a slight possibility that the coverage of that game could be a tad bit over the top.
Anyone that had the pleasure of watching UFC 80 last night – wow. Top-to-bottom that was the best collection of fights I’ve ever seen in one event. I’m going to go ahead and say it was the best UFC card in the history of the sport.

We’re taking the holiday off to open presents, over eat, and obviously, drink heavily. We’ll be back in limited action Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Just a couple of links in case the parents drive you away from the NBA games and to the computer: print media is always about six months behind on the trend pieces, but if you’ve been reading this site, you’re well aware that ESPN poached newspapers incessantly in 2007. But hey, the Wall Street Journal and New York Times are on top of things!
Also, happy holidays, Scott Skiles! Surely, now that the Bulls coach has been fired, Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich will shoot better than 38 percent from the field!
Lastly, this is absolutely hysterical. We were not all that impressed with our score.
