Hawaii Bowl: Nevada vs. SMU. Bonus points if you can name anyone involved in this game besides SMU coach June Jones. Talking points: Dec 18 From Detroit (Via Russia) With Love (Merry Christmas)Happy Holiday!, NHL, Something Positive 24 Comments »These two attractive young blonds are Alyonka and Diana, duaghters of NHL veteran, Igor Larionov. And this video is their song, “That’s What Christmas Means To Me.” According to the Detroit Free Press, the song has been released to help benefit Hockey Fights Cancer which is a pretty damn good cause. The video also has some cameos by current NHL’ers so, this video also fights the lack of hockey coverage on The Big Lead.com. That’s what we in the biz call “placating two birds with one video.” Rodman Being Rodman: It's good (or sad) to see Dennis Rodman in hall of fame form at 48. (@neilmorton) (1) Dec 31
And yes, it pains us to not post today, especially since there’s plenty of post-worthy material: Larry Fitzgerlad, girlfriend beater? Mike Shanahan, fired. Portland, minus Brandon Roy, stuns Boston, as Greg Oden finishes the year with two straight double-doubles. Ana Ivanovic, frolicking on the beach in a bikini with an Australian golfer. Rough night in Oklahoma: No. 4 Sooners lost to unranked Arkansas, and the Cowboys lost to the Ducks in the Holiday Bowl. We’ll close out the year by patting ourselves on the back. Do note some of the names at the bottom. Be safe out there tonight, kids. Oct 04
Jan 20 The Roundup: Championship Sunday EditionAthletes and Celebrities, College Basketball, Death, Happy Holiday!, Heavy Drinking, Jason Whitlock, MMA, NFL 18 Comments » Anyone that had the pleasure of watching UFC 80 last night – wow. Top-to-bottom that was the best collection of fights I’ve ever seen in one event. I’m going to go ahead and say it was the best UFC card in the history of the sport. Over here? Gemma Atkinson – soccer WAG. I’d give further explanation, but I don’t believe any is required. Update: Here’s the rest of the set that photo goes with. (Warning: Red Balcony – May require alone time) To get you into the proper state of mind for today’s events how about the Top 10 Championship Sunday moments. (NFL.com) Finally…some uses “white boy” in a sports highlight – second item down. (NY Post) Umm…is “Eva Mendes” a good enough description? (Sent along by a reader) While I was live-blogging the ESPN on ABC crew was documenting the devastation that dropping to 18-1 can have on a fan base. (Awful Announcing) On a more serious note, I’m not sure if we noted the fact that TBL favorite Jason Witlock disses Chan Gailey and then takes it back. (Can’t Stop The Bleeding) You might think it’s weird that you can still find Expos gear, I’m just psyched to finally find Marlins bed sheets. (Bugs & Cranks) I knew Cloverfield was just misunderstood. (Ya Ya Sports World) The Ravens head coaching Vacancy sign is no longer lit. (Baltimore Sun) Normally, I would never encourage drinking, but since it’s Championship Sunday…(Drunk Athletes) Dec 25
Just a couple of links in case the parents drive you away from the NBA games and to the computer: print media is always about six months behind on the trend pieces, but if you’ve been reading this site, you’re well aware that ESPN poached newspapers incessantly in 2007. But hey, the Wall Street Journal and New York Times are on top of things! Also, happy holidays, Scott Skiles! Surely, now that the Bulls coach has been fired, Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich will shoot better than 38 percent from the field! Lastly, this is absolutely hysterical. We were not all that impressed with our score. |
