what about sean o’hair’s trouble with his dad that was so bad at points during his junior career that his dad would kick him out of the hotel room and sean would be forced to stay with the mahan’s? he’s been the most consistently excellent golfer all year and you didn’t hear anything about his personal life outside of his outrageously pimped out practice shed at his house.

then again, if i ran the coverage, id just show a 3 hour loop of sergio hitting irons on the range. hell, that’d be more interesting than some of the shit they show now that isn’t pure golf coverage.

me too. I was in the car the other day, listening to PGA on XM (hardly ever listen), and they were talking about people’s “backstories” (the Amy cancer thing, Goydos’ wife, etc). I realized that you NEVER see that on golf coverage, unless it’s a huge 10 minute Chris Connelly/Tom Rinaldi thing that has me bawling by the end of it.

For example, they should get Duval or David Toms or any one of 50 guys and sit down and talk about what it was like to be at/near the top, and what you had to do to get it back. Doesn’t have to be sappy, but I consider myself a casual fan now (not obsessed like i used to be), and I know NOTHING about any of the guys, and the #1 guy won’t LET you know anything about him.

there isn’t a course in the world that doesn’t fit his game when his game is on. southern hills wasn’t supposed to fit him and he tore the field apart clinically. he was never supposed to win a US Open, yet he’s won 3, including one in the most ridiculous display of asswhoopery in sports history. same thing at lytham in 2006.

i always expect tiger to win whatever tournament he enters so i wouldn’t be shocked, but there are some good horses for the course.
