you have a better chance to win a title in the baseball than you do in any other major pro sport, and the stats back that up. The NBA has a salary cap, how is that working out for everyone? They have had 8 fucking teams win a title in 30 years. 8! but they send more teams each year.

You can spin baseball “parity” all you want. I’ll still take the NFL, where the league super-powers can be built in places like Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, and Green Bay. While the Jets and Bears can be shit and don’t take players from the small-market teams in their peak years.

And they lose 100 games in each of the other years. As a result, they have no fan base. If a team wins a World Series, but no one is rooting for them, does it count?

Again, Florida has to HOPE to get to the playoffs once every 5 years. The Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox can outspend their mistakes to make it every year.

And again, winning the World Series is a crapshoot. It’s getting to the playoffs that’s they key. Anyone can win once the playoffs start.

Florida was the 4th best team in the National League twice and happened to win 2 WS Titles. The Mariners had the 2nd greatest year of all time in 2001 and didn’t sniff a Series title.

The expansion of the playoffs have bastardized the entire regular season. The whole point of 162 games (and 154 before it) was to find out who the best team in the league was and that team would represent the league in the Series. Having a 4 team playoff was an OK step. Having 8 teams just completely reduces the regular season to virtually nothing.
